Paramol: Usage, Dosage and Side Effects

Paramol is a paracetamol and dihydrocodeine hybrid tablet which offers effective relief of acute pain. Paramol tablets are available to purchase with ease online from Weldricks Pharmacy, though like all paracetamol products, are limited to 100 tablets/capsules per order.

This article strives to answer any questions you might have about Paramol tablets, the recommended dosage, any side effects you may incur, and how the tablets are generally used; helping you understand the ins and outs of Paramol before you purchase.

What is Paramol used for?

Paramol tablets can be purchased at most pharmacies and are used for short term treatment of mild to moderate pain. These tablets are designed to treat pain which has not been cured by standard paracetamol, ibuprofen or aspirin alone, and as an antipyretic in conditions such as headaches, migraines, period pains, toothache and other dental pain, back pain, muscular and joint pains, and neuralgia.

Paramol dosage

You should use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to relieve your symptoms.

Adults and children over 12 years of age should take 1 or 2 tablets every four to 6 hours, with or after food. Do not exceed a maximum of 8 tablets in 24 hours. Do not take for more than three days consecutively without seeking medical advice.

Do not take Paramol alongside any other medication which contains paracetamol.

Paramol side effects

It is important to note that Paramol can become addictive; it contains dihydrocodeine which can cause addiction when taken continuously for more than 3 days. This can give you withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking it, and if you take a painkiller for headaches for more than 3 days it can make your pain worse.

Medicines and their possible side effects can affect different people in different ways, so please consult a doctor immediately if you aren’t feeling well.

New drug drive legislation came into force in England and Wales from March 2nd, 2015. When taking Paramol, please follow the advice of a healthcare professional and make sure your driving isn’t impaired and you can continue to drive as usual without risk of arrest.

It may be an offense to drive whilst taking dihydrocodeine. If experiencing any side effects such as double vision, drowsiness or feeling dizzy, please do not drive.

Paramol tablets should not be taken by those who are allergic to any of the ingredients. If you feel like you have experienced an allergic reaction, please contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Do not take Paramol tablets during an asthma attack. If you are pregnant ensure to consult your doctor before taking Paramol.

Is Paramol an anti-inflammatory?

Paramol is not an anti-inflammatory medication. Paracetamol products will not specifically act as an anti-inflammatory, but are instead preferred to treat pain symptoms.
