Description

This 15g tube of Hydrocortisone 1% w/w cream is a "mild" topical steroid designed to treat a variety of inflammatory skin conditions. It works by changing how your body’s cells react to irritating substances, effectively "switching off" the inflammatory response.

It is commonly used to manage:

  • Eczema and Dermatitis: Calms the redness and itching associated with flare-ups.
  • Insect Bites and Stings: Reduces the swelling and localised irritation caused by midges, bees, or nettles.
  • Allergic Contact Dermatitis: Soothes skin that has reacted to jewellery, detergents, or cosmetics.

As a generic formulation, this cream provides the same high-quality active ingredient as branded alternatives, offering a cost-effective solution for your family’s healthcare needs without compromising on efficacy.

FAQ

Can I use Hydrocortisone cream on my face?

No, you should not use over-the-counter hydrocortisone on your face unless specifically instructed by a doctor. The skin on the face is much thinner and more sensitive, and long-term steroid use can lead to skin thinning or other complications in this area.

How long does it take for Hydrocortisone cream to work?

Most users begin to feel relief from itching and see a reduction in redness within a few hours of the first application. However, it may take a few days of consistent use (up to the 7-day limit) for the inflammation to subside fully.

Is Hydrocortisone cream safe for eczema?

Yes, it is a very common treatment for mild-to-moderate eczema flare-ups. It helps break the "itch-scratch cycle." If your eczema is severe, weeping, or covers a large area of the body, please consult a healthcare professional before use.

Can I use this cream while pregnant?

You should speak with a doctor or a member of our pharmacy team before using any steroid creams during pregnancy to ensure it is the most appropriate treatment for you.

Can this be used on babies?

This product is generally not recommended for children under 10 years old without a prescription. A doctor will determine if a lower dose or different treatment is more suitable for a child’s delicate skin.
