Piriton Allergy Tablets
Piriton Allergy Tablets are used to treat common allergic symptoms caused by hayfever and other allergies. These include a runny nose, stuffiness, redness, swelling, and itchiness.
These allergy tablets contain the active ingredient chlorphenamine which is a type of antihistamine. Chlorphenamine are considered as ‘older antihistamine’ which can cause drowsiness and make you feel sleepy.
Piriton Allergy Tablets: Directions of use:
There are different instructions on how to take the tablets depending on your age. Always read the leaflet and box of your products and medicines.
- Adults, the elderly and children aged over 12 years should take one tablet every 4 to 6 hours.
- Do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.
- Children aged 6 to 12 years can be given 1/2 tablet every 4 to 6 hours.
- Do not give more than 6 half tablets in 24 hours.
- This product is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
If you or someone else swallow too many tablets, or if you think a child has accidentally swallowed any of the tablets, contact your nearest hospital casualty department or your doctor immediately.
What you should consider before use:

- Piriton allergy tablets should not be taken if you are allergic or sensitive to any of the ingredients of the product.
- During pregnancy or breast feeding, before taking any medicines, you should get advice from a doctor.

Piriteze Allergy Tablets

Piriteze Allergy Tablets: Directions of use:
- Adults, the elderly and children aged 6 years and over can take one tablet (10 mg) daily.
- This product is not suitable for children under the age of 6 years.
- Again, always read the label and instructions leaflet to all products.
- Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the tablet’s ingredients.
- If you have any kidney problems, you should be halving the recommended dose.
- During pregnancy or breast feeding, before taking any medicines, you should get advice from a doctor.
- If you or someone else swallow too many tablets, or if you think a child has accidentally swallowed any of the tablets, contact your nearest hospital casualty department or your doctor immediately.
Piriton or Piriteze?
One key difference between piriton and piriteze allergy tablets are their active ingredients. Though both are part of the drug group known as antihistamines, they are different drugs. Piriton has the active ingredient chlorphenamine while Piriteze contains the active ingredient cetirizine hydrochloride.
Both tablets work to relieve symptoms by ensuring because when you come into contact with allergens, your body produces a chemical called histamine. Histamine is the cause for many allergy symptoms As. Antihistamines will block the effects of histamine and help reduce allergy symptoms.

This product should not be used for children under 1 years of age.
- Children aged 1-2 years: Give one small 2.5ml spoonful twice daily. Maximum Daily Dose: 2 small 2.5ml spoonfuls (5ml)
- Children aged 2-6 years: Give one small 2.5ml spoonful every 4-6 hours. Maximum Daily Dose: 6 small 2.5ml spoonfuls (15ml)
- Children aged 6-12 years: One large 5ml spoonful every 4-6 hours Maximum Daily Dose: 6 large 5ml spoonfuls (30ml)
- Adults and Children over 12 years: Take two large 5ml spoonfuls (10ml) every 4-6 hours Maximum Daily Dose: 12 large 5ml spoonfuls (60ml)
What to know before using
- Always read the leaflets and labels before use
- Consult a doctor before taking medicines if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Do not use for children under the age of 12 months
- Avoid drinking alcohol
- This product can cause drowsiness - if affected, do not drive or operate machinery
- Do not use if MAOI medication is being taken, or if there is known hypersensitivity to antihistamines
- Do not use if you are allergic to any of the product ingredients
Piriteze Allergy Syrup
Piriteze Once-A-Day Allergy Syrup provides once a day relief from the symptoms of hayfever and other allergies. It can relieve allergic symptoms such as itchy and runny nose, and can also be taken to help with skin allergies such as rash, itching and urticaria (hives).
Adults and children aged 6 years and over can take two 5ml spoonfuls once daily, or one 5ml spoonful morning and evening. The product is not recommended and should not be used for children under 6 years of age.
