Description

Hydrogen peroxide is a well-known antiseptic agent, and is effective against a majority of micro-organisms. It works as an oxidising agent to kill micro-organisms that do not require oxygen to survive (anaerobes). Hydrogen peroxide is used to disinfect and cleanse the skin, particularly to cleanse wounds and ulcers.

What is it used for?

  • Leg ulcers
  • Sores caused by lying or sitting in the same position for long periods of time (pressure sores)
  • Superficial skin infections
Directions

For external use only.

Apply sparingly to the affected area 2-3 times daily or as required.  If a waterproof plaster is used, one application a day may be sufficient. A dry film may appear on the skin after application; this can easily be washed off with water.

Do not use continuously for more than 3 weeks.

Do not use on large or deep wounds or on healthy skin.

Hydrogen peroxide can bleach fabrics.
